Wordless Wednesday.

Okay, so I'm not quite sure where Wordless Wednesday originated.  I have seen it on MckMama and Baby Davis Michael (stopped by there earlier).  But, I have always enjoyed the idea of participating each Wednesday, and adding a photo from that week.

Today, my sis-in-law (Little Bites) came over to take Nik's 9 month photos (she's almost ten months-Friday-which is also Diesel's 5th Birthday and my other sister-in-law's 22nd Birthday!!)  Rachael took some great shots, and later on that afternoon, I got that itch as I so often do, so I just had to snap some too.  I loved this one, and I have some more to post tomorrow and later on this week.  But, I LOVE the idea of posting a photo every Wednesday, so I am going to try and do it as often as I can.  I have stayed at home with the pumpkin a few Wednesdays, as I still have some Family Leave Bonding (un-paid) to use until she's one.

As I mentioned a while back, my hubby offered to let me use it once a week to stay home with the pumpkin.  I notice it in my paycheck, but it's worht it to me even if it means we have to skim somewhere else.  So, I frequently am home on Wednesdays, but have not really gotten to participating regularly every Wednesday with a photo as I wanted (even though I'm usually taking photos that day.)  I don't know what will happen once I am no longer home one day a week with the pumpkin (I'm trying no tto think about it), but for the next couple months, I'm going to try and post a photo regularly every Wednesday.

I love photography, as it so often takes your breath away.  And, I think that Wordless Wednesday is a great way to cater to the magic awe of photography.  There are so few moments that take your breath away...I think there should be more.  Which is why I LOVE photography.  It so often takes my breath away.  Especially my sister-in-law's (Little Bites) photography.  And, because I have posted this photo, I now have to post just one more...

(This is the same face she gave me when I dropped her off at daycare Tuesday+streaming tears...breaks your heart doesn't it??!!)

Grasping.

Ok, so I didn't think it was supposed to be getting harder to drop Nik off at Daycare, harder for both of us.

This morning when I dropped her off at Daycare, she didn't want to go to our Daycare provider, and then when I handed her over again, she reluctatnly went, but then started crying.  Her little eyes just looked back at me, all welled up with tears, as her little face got all pink.  My heart just dropped. I mean, I am not seriously trying to drive you all crazy, but I am just at a loss as to what to do with this.  She's never done this before, except that she will also not comfortably go to the other daycare worker, but this has never happened with our primary care provider.  I have begun to think that maybe there is something that is not right with our situation and I think that I have got to start looking elsewhere for another provider.

I have been saying this for sometime now, but out of convienence and justification that my reluctance was rooted in motherly ridiculousness, I have chosen to stay with our nanny.  But now, I just don't know.  This does not seem right.  I mean how do you know what kind of care your little one is receiving?  There's just no way to know FOR SURE.  I mean, no one is YOU.  No one will ever be what YOU would be to your little one, I know that.  I know that a lot of times, my ticks are just biased and flippant because I am not the one raising her, but really, how do you know what goes on over there?  The not knowing just kills me.  I mean, I don't want to say this, but I almost wish I had like a Nanny Cam Bear or something.  But, I'm afraid I wouldn't like what I see, which is probably a good sign that it's time for a change.  I just am reluctant to make it for some reason.  So, am I ridiculous, or what?  I just don't know what to do with her/this situation.  She's so back and forth.  I mean I know she'd rather be at home.

Our provider looks after a lot of children, most of them are older, as they shuttle school age children back and forth to school.  Maybe she's not getting enough attention.  maybe there's too much goign on over there. Maybe she's getting yelled at.  Maybe she's just being a 9 month old.  But, it's getting harder, I swear, for both of us.  We've been taking her to daycare since she was 12 weeks old.  Is it just me, or her getting older, or maybe somethings changed over there that would cause all this to suddenly seem like it was spiraling out of control.  Maybe my desire to stay home is growing stronger and I am just reaching, or maybe Nik is getting bigger and she's getting less attention.

I have read that you are supposed to remain indifferent and realxed and not show your little one any anxiety over dropping him/her off at daycare.  You are supposed to keep it light, and not linger.  And, I do that.  So, I just don't know what to do.  She's becoming such a little person now, so aware.  Which is worse, because now she knows what she wants, and she can tell you.  And, daycare is not where she wants to be.  I am grasping for some answers, for some resolve to get through this, and I just hope that something comes to me.  I just want every one of her days, every one of her moments to be like this:

Not Me Monday.

Not Me Monday blog carnival was created by MckMama.  You can see how she and many other mommies did not spend their Monday here:http://www.mycharmingkids.net/.

I promise you, I DID NOT play "dress up" with my daughter and hold a little mini "photo shoot," dressing her in bare skinned, sleeveless dresses in the middle of winter, for over an hour (inside of course!).  I swear to you, I DID NOT then force her little chubby yummy arm through the tight body of said dress just to get it on, so I could snap a few photos.  I would NOT DO such a thing as to treat my daughter like a little doll, as she is a real, life, person with feelings and thoughts.  That is not me, and I would NEVER DO such a thing.

I also DID NOT while NOT taking said "photo shoot" neglect to see (in my feverant desire to get a good Christmas photo of Nik) that my daughter had NOT scraped her head on the Christmas tree or another unknown foreign object.  That would be irresponsible of me as a mother, and that it just NOT like me at all!

I swear to you I DID NOT let my daughter chew on the metal key that opens the china hutch simply so I could get a picture of it, and because she has NOT done it for the past THREE weekends and I find it NOT absolutely hilarious each time she does NOT do it.

I swear to you, that I DID NOT, absolutely DID NOT take down Christmas decorations this weekend, spend the entire day putting up Valentines Day, and STILL did not NOT take down our Christmas Tree that is now standing admist Valentines Day decorations!!  That would be absolutely ridiculous of a person to do such a thing simply because they enjoy the illimination and BEAUTY of said Christmas Tree!!  That simply sounds crazy! and that does not sound like me at all!

Ok, so this is my second Not Me Monday, but as usual, I'm at work today, so unless you desire to hear about my Not Me Work Day, which I doubt you do, I had to regale you with our going-on-ings over the weekend.  I think I just made that word up?!  This time, there is less (much less), as I didn't have a four day weekend with the pumpkin and we shopped all our money away last weekend (except for a trip to the grocery store, well, two trips, we didn't do much).  We went to see Daddy twice at his new office, stopped at the vets, did some laundry, dishes, vacuumed, cleaned, played, took naps (well Nikolina napped, and I wanted to nap with her, but this little tick told me I had mommy things to do, and well, that I shouldn't nap with her, as we're trying to make her more comfortable sleeping, and falling back asleep alone, but Oh, believe me, I wanted to).  We took down the Christams Decorations (albeit the tree, of course!), put up some Valentine decorations, and went to church while Daddy worked, (late again of course!)

The Up and Up.

Nik has been feeling much better.  Thank Goodness.  These pics are from last weekend, bc I haven't snapped any this week yet.  Her nose is not runny or stuffed up anymore, and her cough is subsiding, just a few weak coughs here and there.   I am so thankful that I took her back and we got her on a Z-pak.  It's amazing how fast she started to get better after that.  I know that children should build their own immunity against these viruses, but how relieved are you when they give you these magic elixirs and, VOILA!!, your children turn right back around from that sick path they were heading down.  I have to admit, this thing was so bad, I was so worried about our little pumpkin!  We can finally have my sister-in-law, http://schiranotriplets.blogspot.com/ to take our little pumpkin's 9 month photos!  She's nearly 10 months at this point!  Which makes me a little sad that she's changed a little and we missed that window, but I am excited to take some photos of her naked in her little hat, crawling, cruising, and my sis-in-law mentioned some V-day shots, and I had been wanting to do that too (we think alike on photography so much sometimes), so I am soooo excited!

The pumpkin's taking a nap now, I was tempted to take one with her, but I FINALLY am going to take our tree down, while my hubby is relocating his office today.  They are moving locations and he rented a U-Haul and a friend and he are doing it all themselves to save money!  Isn't he such a little hard worker?!  We're so proud!  So, I've got to get the Christmas Storage boxes out of the basement beofre the pumpkin wakes up.  Just wanted to wish you a Happy Weekend.  We will be cleaning and putting away Christmas decs today and putting up some Valentined Day ones!!  Yeah!!

I just love this little hat I got her from Baby Gap, sooo cheap!!  Isn't it addorable?!  I love how old fahioned their winter gear is this year!  It's absolutely adorable!!  I hope they continue to make clothes and accesories this adorable, I will be in there more often (on sale days of course!)  I just love winter and fall because of all the accessories you can pile on: scarves, hats, mittens, boots, big purses!
There's so much fun stuff!

Nik is obsessed with the laundry shoot door!!  It's just her size!  It terrifies me that some time I'm not going to watching, or the door will be left open, and she's going to fly down it.  I have the same terrible fear about the basement stairs.  Scary!

I just love putting tons of bright colors on her!  She looks so adorable in jeans and a black turtleneck too, though.  Like a little version of me!  Ha!  Ugh, I can't believe my husband and I are almost 30!!  How sad will that be to no longer be in the 20's?

My Little Cupcake!

When I went to pick-up Nik from Daycare the on Tuesday, I met her in the driveway.  Our provider had just taken Nik with her to run a meal to a parishoner who had returned home from the hospital, after all the other kids had been picked up.  Somehow, all the other children's parents only work till 3:30 pm every day?   How do I get that job?  So, Nik is like a little latch key kid, because I usually don't get to her until quarter to 5, or quarter to 6 on days when I work later.  Fourtunately, the only day I have to work until 7:00 pm, is Thursdays when my mother watches Nik.  Our daycare provider is usually only there till 4:30 pm, but she makes an allowance for us, when we need it, otherwise I would have to leave work early every day and use vacation time to get off, or work extra hours to make it up.

So, she handed the little pumpkin to me, and we walked inside to get Nik's things.  She handed me Nik's things, and then, as I was about to turn and leave, Nik reached out for her, while I was holding her!!  Now, you can interpret that anyway you want to, but to me, that was just a stab to the heart.  She stated that she hadn't eaten for a while, or maybe Nik thought I was dropping her off, or maybe she was tired bc she had fallen asleep in the car, however you want to look at it, it simply says that I am not the primary provider for my daughter.  That I see her less than someone else, and in this instance, I was not her first choice, or her comfort.  Who am I to her?  Does she think I am the nanny?  This was just heart wrenching and disturbing to me as a mother and a woman.  It brought tears to my eyes, and bothered me for quite some time after.  It just gets to me, and bothers me that I am not in a different place than I had always thought that I would be.  And as awful as it is to think this, I just got to thinking, why do people have children who just go to work all day?  It's so strange because I know of parents who both work and their children attend daycare, whether becuase that is their life and they chose that path, or whether because their situations do not allow them to have it any other way.  But, I also know people who stay at home and raise their children instead of working, whether it be the mom or the dad that stays home. I also knwo people, who stay at home with their children, and I can't figure out HOW they are able to financially maneuver that.

Of course, I NEVER thought that I would be in this place with my daughter, or my children.  My mother worked, dont get me wrong.  My mother still works at 63 years old, full time!  When I was a child, she worked a day or two in the school library, and did home room mom stuff like that.  I think she was a troop leader one year, a high school cheerleading coach another year.  When we got older, she worked nights in retail, and by the time I was in junior high, she was back to work full time, and I was a latch key kid.  I was the last one off the bus (at two different addresses, figure that one out), and I walked home by myself, and let myself into the house, and was alone till my father came home from work.  And, if I forgot my key, which happened VERY often, I was alone on the stoop outside our house till my father came home (which always seemed like hours!!).

That was my childhood growing up, but I didn't know of anything else, so that was completely normal and ordinary to me.  But, now, as an adult and a mother, I know that is not what I want for my children.  And, I know that my mother and most parents don't.  My mother did stay home to raise me and my older brothers when we were very young.  That I envy her.  My mother says now that if she could, she would watch the pumpkin every day, but she is still working.  And, I wish that I could change that for her.  It's so funny how people's lives are so different.  People's childhoods so diverse.  All because of upbringing, generations, lifestyles, circumstance, chance, and CHOICES.  Somethings you can't change, but choices are yours to claim.  I chose this path.  Now, of course I NEVER thought that I would have to go back to work, and give my daughter to a stranger to raise, but this little nagging, leaves me feeling I chose this path somehow, whether through direct choices or indirect, an that is my plight.

So, the next day when I picked Nik up, she smiled this huge smile when I greeted her, and was very happy when our daycare provider handed her to me to hold in my arms.  Which is usually how this scene plays out.  And that did make my heart fill back up a little.  But, I still can't help but watch that scene from earlier, when she was not so happy, play back in my mind, and I don't think I will ever be able to fully let that fade from my memory.

Not Me Monday...

"Not Me Monday" blog carnival was created  MckMama. You can see how she and many others did not spend their Mondays here: http://www.mycharmingkids.net/.

This is my first Not me Monday (I have wanted to do it in the past, but bc I work on Mondays, there usually isn't much to say that's worth talking about.  I was at home today with the Pumpkin who has a Bronchial infection, and is currently on a Z-Pak but I tried to lay low today bc it was a busy week (+end) for the little pumpkin, and I wanted her to rest.  So, I also would like to muse you with our going on-ings this past weekend, if you don't mind, so here goes....

I absolutely did not, upon hearing the sick pumpkin wake up in the middle of the night (morning) stumble out of bed and bring her back into our bed to nurse her bc I was too exhausted to sit upright and rock her for 30-45 minutes in the rocker in her room.  My husband hates that, and I absolutely would not so that.

I absolutely DID NOT pick our sick crying daughter back up, out of the crib, when I just placed her there, and continue to nurse her until she fell back asleep for the night.  I woudl not ruin all that we have set in place with the CRY IT OUT method simply bc she is sick and it breaks my heart to see her this way, and I blame myself, and if I leave her she'll just stuff her nose up and create more nose stuff.  So, really I did not do this!!  That would be a step back for us.

I absolutely did not wake up and let our black lab, Diez, out to go to the bathroom, and after checking on him for the second time, discover that the back gate had been left open somehow, and he had escaped and was now running rampid (wearing mens boxers shorts and a very large surgery cone on his head) on this cold winter morning.

I absolutely did not, upon discovering this, then quickly grab our Pumpkin (clad in her froggy feety pajama's), throw winter gear on her, and throw her in our Chevy Tahoe to go looking for said Pup.  I also did not, I repeat, did not, throw a Black Winter Dress Coat on over a white robe, wearing only underwear underneath, glasses, and Leopard Print Winter Boots and Hat go driving around looking for our pup througout the neighborhood (for an hour and a half).  If someone saw me that would just be horrendous and, I absolutely ywould not be caught dead looking like that.

I also did not, upon hearing the news that he had been found and captured by the City Pound, and we could "happily" come pick him up at any time, and "happily" pay them for picking up said dog (after wasting all morning looking for him, thinking that he was out there, when he was actually sitting, prisoner at the pound).  I DID NOT call my husband and confess to him that maybe we should leave said recovering  puppy at the city pound indefinently to "teach him a lesson."  I love that dog, and I absolutely would not say that, I especially would not mean it.  That would be cruel, and I am not like that.  Not at all.

I also did not take my sick daughter to the mall (for just one thing, really!) and end up spending OVER TWO HOURS there!!  Also, I absolutely did not dress her in a carters outfit that was too small for her, with socks that were too big, with no bow in her hair to go shopping, bc it was easier than changing her.  I absolutely would not take my daughter out looking like a scrub-a-muffin!  That would just be humiliating to her, and I always make sure that she looks better than I do, even if that means I am wearing dirty, wrinkled clothes, covered in white/clear baby spit-up and crunchy baby food stains, and no shower, and having not brushed my hair, and second day old make-up.

I also did not, while checking out in a department store, accept a coupon from the gentle, older woman behind the cash wrap, who confessed that although she isn't supposed to give coupons out to customers, that she, upon noticing that I did not have a ring on my left hand (as I neglected to put it on that morning), that she wanted to help me out mother to mother, as she herself, raised two children on her own!!  I would not take advantage of someone's generousity and good will like that to save a few dollars, absolutely, I would not do something like that!

I did not, while trying on clothes in a fitting room, I did not, I repeat, DID NOT, nurse my daughter in said fitting room while other people were needing to utilize a room.  Who nurses their child in public??  Not me, that is not appropriate.  I would not condone such behavior.

I also DID NOT, strip my restless daughter in the middle of a store, while in her stroller, while we were shopping, to try a (sale) shirt on her bc I did not want to purchase it if it did not fit her, and did not to come back to the mall  at a later date to return said item.  I did not then, realize that that was horrendous and attempt to move said baby and stoller into the fitting room, only to have said stroller (weighed down with purses, diaper bags, and sale items) nearly tip over with my child inside.  That would be horrible, to put a child through all that for some sale items.  Just simply outrageous!  That does not sound like me.  Not at all.

I also did not, upon check-out, while searching in my purse, allow my restless daughter, that I had just put back in stroller after NOT trying on clothes in the fitting room, I did not, not notice that she was crawling out of said stroller, and she did not, then slide out, and she did not, then hit her head every so slightly (but with a noticeable thud) on the tile floor of the store in front of the sales people and a slew of shoppers.  THAT DID NOT HAPPEN!!  That would be HORRIBLY IRRESPONSIBLE of me to allow that to happen!!  NEGLECTFUL, and VERY UN-CLASSY and UN-SOPHISTICATED.  And, that same baby, DID NOT, then begin to cry very LOUDLY in front of those salespeople and shoppers.  That did not happen.

I vow that I did not pre-imtively purchase a newborn suede/wool Winter Baby Bag for next winter.  I would not be so presumptious to do something like that, NOT ME!!

I also did not, feed my 9 month old daughter gerber poofs and breastmilk for TWO MEALS for TWO DAYS bc we were shopping, instead of allowing her to sit down and have something more substantial (in all fairness, she hasn't been eating lately bc of her cold, really, she hasn't!)  I also do not park (and leave the car running and listen to talk radio) in parking lots and nurse my daughter (tinted windows) while running errands or in-between window shopping.  That could tramatize someone that was driving by or might happen to park RIGHT NEXT TO YOU, while you are MILES from the entrance to the store.  That is tacky, and I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT do that REPEATEDLY over and over and OVER again!

I also did not make my fussing daughter wait in a way too long line at Starbucks while I purchased a ridiculously expensive Frapuccino.  I would not do that to her to support a selfish desire for such luxuries.  I also did not go through the car wash simply bc I enjoy going through car washes (I can't help it!).  That would be a waste of money, and I would not so such a silly, ridiculous thing.  I also did not, while waiting in a ridiculously long line at the drive-thru pharmacy, I did not put the car in park and crawl to the back seat to take pictures of my little pumpkin asleep with her head falling limply from her headrest.

I promise to you, I DID NOT ALLOW my daughter to nap in the running parked car, in the driveway while I ran inside and put some clothes in the washer and dryer.  I also did not unload the dishwasher, let the dog out, look for a receipt and put some clothes away.  A carseat is not a crib, and I should not allow my daughter who has not been napping well during the day bc she has been sick, I should not allow her to nap in said vehicle (all the while checking on her) while I attend to some much needed house chores.  That would be WRONG!

I DID NOT take my sick daughter to church with me, while her Daddy worked, because I needed to go for myself.  I would not do that to her, or risk anyone getting sick (I mean, I would sit in the very back, and really she loves going to church, and she is the happiest baby even though she is sick, and she is on an antibiotic, and we wouldn't shake hands with anybody).  I just simply wouldn't that.  I also would NOT be late to said church bc I was cleaning out our car in the driveway, while our child was not asleep in the carseat (not again).  I mean I have time to clean the car out, why would I need to do it now, when I know that I am going to be late.  It's not like I have some insane tick where I have to finish what I start, right then, immidately, or it DRIVES ME NUTS!! I DO NOT have that prblem!  I also would NEVER, EVER create my own parking space for myself (at CHURCH), in a space where there wasn't a parking space, bc I WAS LATE, and it was COLD, and I HAD A SICK BABY ALL BY MYSELF!!  THAT WOULD NOT HAPPEN!!

I also would NOT allow my child to do this...

Or, this...

And, I certainly WOULD NOT create a make-shift play pin with furniture trapping my daughter in a confined space while I vacummed the floors.  And I WOULD NOT go in to the other room to vacumm while said daughter ripped up Daddy's Golf Digest Magazines.  I also would not knowingly allow my daughter to strip Daddy's bookshelves in his office of every book on the shelf, bc I was putting away laundry in the other room.  I WOULD NOT knowingly allow her to do that, as it would set a bad example for possible future similar actions.  I also WOULD NOT open a Diet Coke and place it "within my daughter's reach," and then go into the other room.  I WOULD NOT then notice that said daughter had gotten very quiet and then I WOULD NOT go back out into the room with said daughter to discover that said daughter was DRINKING that DIET COKE STRAIGHT FROM THE CAN, WITH A DIET COKE MUSTACHE, WITH DIET COKE ALL DOWN THE FRONT OF HER SHIRT, THE OTTOMON, AND THE FLOOR.  THAT CERTAINLY WOULD NOT BE ME!!

I absoltely, positively, HAVE NOT allowed our daughter to nap with me and on me while she was sick this past week, when I have watched her.  That would be hypocritical of me, as I have made my mother stop partaking in such actions and expressed my discouragement to our daycare provider for doing the same thing.  I would not do such things to simply let the poor sick child sleep when she so deperately needs the strenth to get better and fight this thing.  That would be  HUGE step back as we are trying to instill in her the independance and confidence to sooth herself back to sleep.

I also DID NOT, DID NOT spend the whole weekend shopping, running errands, and LOVING on the Pumpkin instead of cleaning the house, doing the dishes, taking down Christmas decorations that are not STILL up, and getting to some badly needed re-organizing that I have been putting off for some time now.  That would be irresponsible as a wife and homemaker, and that SIMPLY IS NOT ME!!

I swear to that our CHRISTMAS TREE IS NOT STILL UP IN THE MIDDLE OF JANUARY because it is simply TOO BEAUTIFUL to take down!! (don't worry, if said tree were still up, said tree would be artificial)  But, I as a lover of all holidays and a celebrater of all holidays, I would not be delaying putting Valentines Day decerations up bc I DO NOT HAVE THE HEART TO TAKE DOWN OUR BEAUTIFUL TREE.  People don't keep Christmas Trees up in the middle of January.  That is pure procrastination at it's best, and that DOES NOT sound like me at all.  I absolutely WILL NOT wait to late to take it down, and put up Valentines Day decorations right before Valentines Day and leave THEM up too long!!

That does NOT sound like me at all.

Warming Trends.

At work the other day, a co-worker and I were discussing the weather.  We were talking about how much warmer it has been this week.  And no precipitation (ice, snow)!  This is a welcoming change from the recent weather that we have seen, it seems, all over.  We were talking about how nice it was, and, he mentioned to me how nice it was that the days were a little longer now.  And, I said, what?  The days are getting longer again already?, but winter has only just started.  And he stated that December 21st (winter soltice) marked the official change, the days getting longer.  And, I hadn't noticed it, but then, when I did leave for work that day at 4:45, walking to my car, I looked around, and noticed that IT WAS LIGHTER out.  Looking around, and with the warm winter air surrounding me, I began to think about and it felt a little like SPRING (and St. Patrick's Day!!) was just around the corner, and I felt a little skip in my heart.

Now, I don't mind winter.  Leading up to Christmas, I LOVE winter.  White Christmas, absolutely!  I love a chilly Christmas EVE, especially with snowflakes.  And, once Nikolina gets older, and we have more little Garretts, I know that I WILL LOVE going sledding, building snowmen, and snow angels in the snow.  So, all over the states, we have seen this horrible winter that has everyone snickering about "global warming."  Now, we could talk all day about the controversy surrounding global warming, especially since I listen to republican talk radio every time I'm in the car, bc it is the only thing that will put Nik to sleep!  But, when I walked outside that day after work, the first phrase that came to mind was "Warming Trends."  And, since I didn't have a photograph to post, I searched Google for images, and I found a plethora of different pictures labeled under warming trends...

But, what I thought about, was that Spring is right around the corner-St Patrick's Day ( I LOVE-Irish girl and all that) Easter (Easter Bunny, pretty dresses, eggs, baskets ) and the New Life that Spring brings (Babies and Animals).  And, I though about clovers, and green, and bunnies, and eggs, and little baby birds chirping...and I felt good inside.  If you're anything like me, once Christmas is over, snow, ice, slush and all that usually could fall by the wayside, and it wouldn't make much difference to me.  I LOVE snow if I'm cozy at home, snuggled on the couch, with warm jammies, a blanket, and maybe a warm drink.  I love watching snow fall.  I love seeing it piled up when I first wake up in the morning.  But, trying to rush out the door before 8 am, with Nik, and my breast pump and her diaper bags, my purse, my lunch and coats and hats and mittens, and chapped freezing faces, and scraping ice and snow off the car (I haven't had a garage since I could drive!), and trying to make it in time to work, without crashing my car into a snowbank, and then doing it all over again after I get off work, I could do without.  I must say this year, so far, it has not bothered me so much.  But, I am excited that the SUN is staying out a little longer, and that I can put Nik in the car without worrying that she's going to freeze into an ICICLE (ha!)-was nice, and I am looking forward to each new day (and SPRING) a little more.

I know the Groundhog usually tells us that there's more winter in store, but I still get excited for that day, wondering if he will predict more winter.  And, I'm excited for Nik to walk and run through the grass, and pick up Easter eggs, and wade in a baby pool.  And, I'm also excited for next Fall, and yes, Christmas again next year!

In other news, Nik's cold and cough is hanging in there, but I don't think that it has spread to her lungs yet (Yeah!).  But, my husband was sick yesterday, and I have a sore throat and  a headache, so I am fearing that I am next.  Of course, I was making out (yes, I said, making out) with my husband the night before he informed me that he was "deathly ill" and needed to go to the hospital (my husband tends to exaggerate a little when he's sick).  And, he did then confess to me tha the "felt sorry for me" bc he made out with me and probably got me sick.  Nik seems to be coughing less than the first day, which is good, but she's keeping pretty steady, and I am just hoping that she starts down the healthy path sometime soon.  She's as happy as can be, and even jumped out of her stroller earlier today in the Baby Gap, but thankfully, she survived!  The stories we will have for her when she's older...speaking of Baby Gap...did you know that thir winter sale items are 50% OFF THE SALE PRICE!!!  I got Nik some shirts for 2.50.  I tried not to go in there, but OH MY GOSH!!  you can't pass that up. BABY GAP is my NEW FAVORITE BABY CLOTHING STORE!!

There is nothing better than getting really cute, bright, trendy, quality clothing for a STEAL!!  It just makes a girl feel good inside!!  And after all the money that you give to the Economy, it's nice to feel like you're getting a little back every now and then!  Since, we don't usually splurge on Nik (budget and all that), it was nice to be able to feel like I was splurging, but actually, really savy shopping!!!

Our dog ran away this morning and Nik and I drove around for over an hour looking for him!  I let him out to go potty, and somehow the back gate was opened (we never open it) not sure how that happened.  But, after a bit, I went to check on him (for the second time) and he was gone!!  My hubby and I are just so frustrated with our little pup!  He certainly has a zest for life.  I just keep thinking about "Marley and Me."  I loved that book, and I watch the movie whenever the mood strikes me which is usually once a month-I never tire ot it!!  I just adore it!  (That's him in the side bar).  He's such a great dog, but he's sick right now, so we are dealing with that, and everytime the opportunity presents itself, he busts out, and doesn't look back!!  We just don't know waht to do with him.  So we had to hock him out of the pound today after someone called him in.  You would think that I could find a black lab in the white snow, with a huge cone on his head wearing boxers, but the city found him first, or I should say some neighbors, and then after a hit to the pocketbook later, he's ours again, in all his Diesel Glory!
But, my husband is trying to talk to me about compound interest now, at 11:00 at night, so gotta run!  Enjoy your weekend!!
